THE ELLIPSOIDAL INTROSPECTIVE OPTIC (EIO) is a high-precision mirror which simultaneously reflects the gaze of each eye into the other no matter where I look. Designed from MRI scans of my head, it combines elements of science, technology, spirituality, and art, in a chimerical whole that slips between disciplines, blurring lines of distinction.

EIO was made in collaboration with Dr. Raymond van Ee with support from the Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten, the Royal Dutch Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW), the Young Academy (DJA), TNO, and the Fonds BKVB.
